To ease us back into the saddle and into the outdoors after wintery hibernation, this little gem of a route takes in much of what makes Peebles such a beautiful place to live. Following the old railway line out of Peebles, we ride through the tunnel (Spooky!) beneath South Park Wood and then beside the River Tweed to the Barnes Estate at Lyne. Back onto tarmac we join the John Buchan Way and climb up onto Cademuir Hill for amazing views over the Tweed Valley before crossing into the Cademuir Plantation and returning to Peebles via Haystoun.
A generally flat, non-technical route along disused railway line, estate tracks and quiet country lanes. A short section of climbing at the 10km stage, (will get us all puffing a bit but nothing to worry about!) up over a moorland track onto Cademuir before descending back into Peebles.
