This year challenge yourself to one of our exhilarating mountain bike guided rides in some jaw-dropping, stupendously beautiful landscape here in the Tweed Valley. Discover a landscape steeped in history, ride fun trails known only to the locals and meet new biking buddies along the way.
Swift Trails run mountain bike guiding in and around the Scottish Borders. Our mountain bike rides vary from "swift-ones" lasting around 1.5-2 hrs to "epics" 4-6 hours.
Amazingly great value for only £15/place!
All our ride-outs are led by fully qualified Mountain Bike Leaders. We hold outdoor first aid qualifications with ITC, a recognised national awarding body for first aid training and hold insurance through British Cycling.
A good level of fitness is recommended for all rides but we ride at a sociable pace, have frequent stops and always aim to stop somewhere which serves coffee and cake!
Peebles to the Black Meldons via Stewarton
I've included this ride for the third year running, quite simply because its one of my favourites and never fails to please. After the initial lung-busting climb up the infamous "Hammy Hill" the route flattens to take in some extensive views over the Tweed Valley. From Nether Stewarton the trail runs gently downhill through the southerly edge of Cloich Forest and then intersects the Meldons down to Lyne Station. We cross the Tweed and ride through Barnes Estate before following the river back to Peebles.
A bit of everything on this route: Farm tracks and forest trails, single track through open fields, public highway. Don’t be put off by the initial climb. Its steep but you get that over with pretty quickly and once out on the top its worth it for the views.
